Labor activist Payam Fathi from Sanandaj has been threatened via phone by security forces, warning him against participating in any gatherings or events related to International Women’s Day.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Sanandaj security forces contacted Payam Fathi, warning him that any involvement in gatherings or events marking International Women’s Day would result in legal consequences.
Earlier, Kolbarnews had reported that in addition to Payam Fathi, five other labor activists in Sanandaj, Tayeb Chetani, Lotfollah Ahmadi, Eqbal Shabani, Khabat Dehdar, and Jamal Asadi had received similar threats. Additionally, three civil and women’s rights activists Soraya Khediri, Simin Chaychi, and Bahar Zangiband were summoned to the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FARAJA) and pressured to sign written commitments not to participate in any Women’s Day gatherings or events.
These actions are part of a broader effort by security agencies in recent years to prevent the organization of events and gatherings related to March 8, International Women’s Day.
It is worth noting that Payam Fathi has previously been summoned and interrogated due to his labor activism.
