The sentence of Omid Ghadimi, the brother of Foad Ghadimi, who was killed during the 2022 nationwide protests, has been reduced by the Kurdistan Province Court of Appeal to a one-year suspended prison term and a fine of three million tomans.
According to Kolbarnews and based on a recent ruling by the Kurdistan Province Court of Appeal, which was delivered to Omid Ghadimi on Monday, September 16, 2024, his sentence was changed to one year of suspended imprisonment and a fine of three million tomans.
Previously, the Divandarreh Revolutionary Court had sentenced him to 32 months of imprisonment for “membership in one of the opposition parties to the regime,” eight months for “propaganda against the regime,” and a fine of 8.5 million tomans for “spreading lies with the intent to disturb public opinion.”
Omid Ghadimi, the brother of Foad Ghadimi, was arrested by security forces in Divandarreh on September 6, 2023, and transferred to a security detention center in Sanandaj. He was eventually released on bail on December 25 of that same year.
Foad Ghadimi, 39 years old, was killed by gunfire from security forces on September 21, 2022, during the nationwide protests.
