A young Baloch Sukhtbar was severely injured after being struck by a military speedboat in the Khor Kalani waterway near Pasabandar.
According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, a Baloch Sukhtbar was seriously wounded in both legs after being run over by a military “Gulf” speedboat belonging to the Pasabandar naval patrol forces in the Khor Kalani area.
The injured individual has been identified as Jalal Dehghani, 21 years old, son of Chaharshanbeh, and a resident of the city of Negur, the capital of Dashtiari County.
The report states that the military maritime forces struck Jalal’s boat without issuing any warning or stop signal. The propellers of the military vessel caused deep and severe injuries to both of his legs. According to doctors, his injuries are so grave that they have informed the family his legs may need to be amputated.
Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the year 2024, at least 375 Baloch Sukhtbars have been injured or lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires. Of this number, 240 Sukhtbars were killed and 135 were injured, representing a 55% increase in the number of killed and injured Sukhtbars compared to the year 2023.
