Bukan; Violent Arrest of Semko Yousefi, Kurdish Language Instructor and Civil Activist

Semko Yousefi, a Kurdish language instructor and civil activist from Bukan, was violently arrested in the street by agents of the Intelligence Department and transferred to an unknown location.

According to Kolbarnews, on the morning of Monday, December 8, 2025, intelligence agents in Bukan violently detained Semko Yousefi in one of the city’s streets, beating him and forcing him into a vehicle without presenting any judicial warrant, before transferring him to an unknown location.

According to an informed source, Yousefi was subjected to physical violence during his arrest, and the security forces did not present any legal authorization for their actions. As of the time of publication, no official information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest, his physical condition, or his whereabouts, and security authorities have refused to provide any explanation.

Semko Yousefi had previously been arrested once before. On the morning of May 26, 2025, security forces raided his home in the Amirabad neighborhood of Bukan without presenting a judicial warrant, arrested him with violence, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
