Bukan: Continued Detention and Lack of Information About the Fate of a Citizen

Ebrahim Janefard, a resident of Bukan, has been held incommunicado for over a week following his arrest by intelligence forces.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Ebrahim Janefard, a 23-year-old resident of Rahim Khan village in Bukan, was arrested by agents from the Intelligence Department and transferred to an undisclosed location. Reports indicate that his arrest took place without the presentation of a court warrant.

Mr. Janefard had previously been sentenced in May 2023 by Branch 110 of the Bukan Criminal Court to two years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “collaboration with one of the Kurdish parties.” He had been a former member of an opposition Kurdish party, and after leaving the party and returning to Bukan in 2022, he was also arrested but later released on bail.

More than a week after his latest detention, there is still no information available regarding the reasons for his arrest, his place of detention, or his current condition.
