Bukan: A Citizen Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

Mehdi Majidi, a 25-year-old resident of Bukan, has been sentenced to five years in prison by the Criminal Court No. 2 of Bukan.

According to Kolbarnews, recently, the Second Criminal Court of Bukan sentenced Mehdi Majidi, a 25-year-old resident of this city, to three years of imprisonment for “supporting Israel,” one year for “propaganda against the regime,” and one year for “insulting the leadership,” amounting to a total of five years of imprisonment.

Under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, which is a three-year prison term, will be enforceable in his case.

Mehdi Majidi was arrested by security forces in Bukan on Monday, November 6, 2023, in the lead-up to the state-sanctioned killing of Jina Amini. 

He was transferred to the detention center of the Intelligence Department in Urmia. 

After 40 days in detention and the completion of interrogation procedures, he was moved to Bukan prison. Following three months of detention, he was temporarily released on a bail of 500 million tomans pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
