Bukan: A Citizen Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

Jalal Mohammadkarimi, one of the detainees from the Jina Revolutionary Movement in Bukan, has been sentenced by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran to 10 years of discretionary imprisonment.

According to Kolbarnews, Mohammadkarimi was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Second Criminal Court of Bukan to 10 years in prison on charges of “possession of a weapon.” One-third of the sentence was suspended for a period of two years.

This verdict was recently reduced by Branch 23 of the Appeals Court of West Azerbaijan Province to two years and one day of discretionary imprisonment, with the previously suspended portion of the sentence remaining unchanged.

Jalal Mohammadkarimi was originally arrested by security forces at his home on Sunday, January 15, 2023, and taken to an undisclosed location. After the interrogation phase, he was temporarily released pending trial.

He has recently been summoned by the Bukan Office of Sentence Enforcement to begin serving his sentence.
