Bandar Abbas–Minab: Sukhtbari Vehicle Catches Fire After Military Forces Open Fire

A Sukhtbari vehicle caught fire after being shot at by military forces on the Bandar Abbas–Minab road.

According to Kolbarnews, on the morning of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, military forces in plainclothes opened fire on a Peugeot 405 sedan Sukhtbari vehicle on the Bandar Abbas–Minab road, near the Gomberon Industrial Town area. The shooting caused the vehicle to catch fire.

Based on footage from the scene, the vehicle initially fled the area, but after being pursued and shot at again by the forces, it caught fire.

Reports indicate that the Sukhtbar driver managed to exit the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames and survived the incident.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
