Rask: Two Baloch Sukhtbars Killed After Vehicle Overturns and Catches Fire

Two Baloch Sukhtbars from Saravan County were killed after their Sukhtbari vehicle overturned and caught fire in Rask County.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Monday, 3 August 2026, two Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives after a Sukhtbari Toyota Land Cruiser overturned and caught fire near the Jangal village junction in Rask County.

The deceased Sukhtbars were identified as Nima Darzadeh, son of Farhad, and Mohammad Darzadeh, son of Gol-Mohammad, both residents of Zangian village in Saravan County.

According to published reports, after the vehicle overturned and caught fire, the two Sukhtbars were unable to escape due to the severity of their injuries and the rapid spread of the flames. They died at the scene.

Baloch Sukhtbars in the border regions of southeastern Iran are often compelled to engage in this highly dangerous work because of the lack of stable employment opportunities and severe economic hardship. In the course of their work, they routinely face risks including road accidents, vehicle fires, shootings by military forces, high-speed pursuits, and security-related confrontations.

Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars.According to the 2025 annual report of the Baluchistan Human Rights Documentation Network, at least 262 Sukhtbars were killed or injured. Of these, 173 Sukhtbars lost their lives due to gunfire by military forces, road accidents during pursuits by security forces, or explosions caused by mines planted by the IRGC, while 89 others were injured. Four child Sukhtbars were among those killed.
