Urmia: Conditional Release of Keyvan Rashozadeh and Kamran Ghasemi

Keyvan Rashozadeh and Kamran Ghasemi, two political prisoners, have been conditionally released from Urmia Central Prison after serving five years of their prison sentences.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, Keyvan Rashozadeh and Kamran Ghasemi, who were sentenced in a joint case, were released conditionally after serving five years of imprisonment.

Both Keyvan Rashozadeh and Kamran Ghasemi were arrested on October 8, 2019, along with three other citizens in Urmia, and were subsequently transferred to the Intelligence Ministry’s detention center in the city.

Keyvan Rashozadeh went on a hunger strike in April 2024, during which he was beaten and tortured by prison guards. Additionally, Kamran Ghasemi started a hunger strike on September 25, 2024, in protest of the poor prison conditions and the denial of his request for leave.
