Amjad Geryakhiz, a well-known labor activist and outspoken opponent of the death penalty, has once again been summoned to the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court.

According to Kolbarnews, and based on an official summons received by the activist, he is required to appear in court on May 13, 2025, to respond to the charges brought against him.
This latest summons comes amid a history of state harassment. Geryakhiz was previously arrested during the general strike in Kurdistan and violently detained on the streets of Sanandaj. He was held in detention for 35 days without access to medication or legal counsel and was eventually released temporarily on bail. He had also been summoned to court once before in this case, on March 2, 2025.
Amjad Geryakhiz has a long history of labor activism and opposition to the death penalty. He was previously arrested and subjected to torture during the popular uprising known as the Jina movement. According to informed sources, Geryakhiz has faced repeated threats and arrests over the years due to his labor-related and protest activities.
