Sanandaj: Hassan Amini Released from Prison

Hassan Amini, the brother of Mohammad Amini, one of those martyrs during the 2022 nationwide protests, has been released from Sanandaj Prison under electronic monitoring. He will serve the remainder of his sentence outside of prison, with restricted movement.

According to Kolbarnews, on Thursday, August 29, 2024, Hassan Amini was released from Sanandaj Central Prison. His release was conducted under electronic monitoring, meaning he will complete the rest of his sentence outside of prison, but with restricted movement within a specified radius from his home.

Hassan Amini was arrested by security forces on June 9, 2023, following a protest held by several grieving families at the grave of Daniel Pabandi. He was later released on bail from Bukan Prison on June 13, 2023.

In mid-July 2023, Amini was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Bukan Criminal Court to six months and fifteen days in prison and forty lashes for “disrupting public order.” He was re-arrested on July 21, 2024, to serve his prison sentence and was transferred to Sanandaj Prison.

According to reports, Mohammad Amini was shot and killed by security forces on October 8, 2022, during the nationwide protests in Sanandaj.
