Aziz Ghasemzadeh, a cultural activist from Gilan, was sent on medical leave from Lakan Prison in Rasht.
According to Kolbarnews, quoting the Coordination Council of Cultural Trade Unions of Iran, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, Aziz Ghasemzadeh was sent on medical leave from Lakan Prison in Rasht.
According to the report, this cultural trade union activist was sent on medical leave to continue his medical treatment (prostate biopsy).
Aziz Ghasemzadeh was arrested on April 8, 2024, and transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht to serve his sentence.
In February 2024, along with several other educational activists in Gilan province, he was sentenced by the third branch of the Revolutionary Court in Rasht to two years and one day of imprisonment and a two-year ban on membership in political and social parties and groups.
Later, Mr. Ghasemzadeh was sentenced to one year of imprisonment by the judiciary. This sentence was ultimately confirmed by the Appeals Court of Gilan province.
Recently, he has also been sentenced to permanent separation from government jobs by the disciplinary committee for the misconduct of employees of the education department of this province.
