Over the past five days, Iranian authorities have forcibly deported more than 72,000 Afghan migrants.

According to Kolbarnews, in the past five days, Iranian authorities have forcibly deported more than 72,000 undocumented Afghan nationals through the Dogharoun border crossing in Razavi Khorasan province.
according to Hussein Jamshidi, the governor of Taybad, “all resources and capacities have been mobilized to facilitate the swift removal” of these individuals, and that the expulsion process is still ongoing.
However, this mass deportation coincides with widespread reports of violent treatment, executions, mass detentions, and security threats targeting Afghan migrants including those with valid residency and legal documentation. Human rights sources say that even documented refugees who have lived in Iran for years are being subjected to intimidation, eviction, and complete destitution.
Sources have further reported that official messages have been sent by Iran’s Department for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs (DAFIA) to Afghan residents of Sistan and Baluchestan, explicitly ordering them to leave Iran by a set date or face forcible removal through detention camps.
This campaign of repression against Afghan refugees appears to be part of the Islamic Republic’s broader strategy to reassert domestic authority following its recent military defeat, by redirecting public frustration toward a vulnerable population.
These developments raise deep concern over the safety and rights of Afghan migrants, many of whom are now facing systematic expulsion regardless of their legal status.
