Kerman: 12 Afghan Migrant Workers Killed and Injured in Vehicle Overturning

Eight Afghan migrant workers lost their lives and four others were injured following the overturning of a passenger vehicle transporting them on the Baghin to Bardsir route.

According to Kolbarnews, the incident occurred in recent days, involving a vehicle carrying 12 migrant workers aged between 30 and 35, entering Iran. The physical condition of the injured remains unclear.

The Islamic regime has described the workers involved in this incident as “unauthorized workers” a term frequently used by Iranian state media and authorities to refer to Afghan asylum seekers. Many of these individuals have fled Taliban violence in search of safety, work, and a better life in Iran.

This tragedy comes amid a growing wave of security and social pressures on Afghan migrants in Iran over the past year, with numerous reports of detentions, deportations, and denial of basic rights.

It’s also worth noting that, according to the Iranian Legal Medicine Organization, at least 1,077 workers died due to work-related accidents in the first half of the Iranian year 1403. That means approximately 200 workers per month or about 50 per week have lost their lives due to workplace accidents and the negligence of employers and officials, marking a 15.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Of these victims, 1,066 were men and 11 were women.
