A Baloch Sukhtbar was injured after military forces deployed a spike strip in front of his moving vehicle in Jiroft.
According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, February 3, 2025, a Baloch Sukhtbar was injured after his vehicle overturned and caught fire due to a spike strip placed by military forces on a highway in Jiroft.
The injured Sukhtbar has been identified as Imran Shahbakhsh, 23 years old, son of Ali Khan, and a resident of Zahedan.
Reports indicate that military forces used a spike strip to puncture the tires of his vehicle, causing it to overturn. As a result, Imran was ejected from the vehicle and sustained severe injuries. He is currently undergoing surgery at a hospital.
A spike strip is a metal device equipped with small spikes designed to puncture the tires of vehicles that drive over it. Military forces frequently deploy these devices without considering the deadly consequences, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries among drivers each year.
Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
