Soheila Motaei, a civil activist from the city of Dehgolan, has been temporarily released from prison on bail of one billion tomans until the completion of judicial proceedings.

According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, March 17, 2025, Soheila Motaei was temporarily released after posting bail of one billion tomans. She had been held and interrogated in a security detention center in Sanandaj.
As of the time of this report, no official information is available regarding the reasons for her arrest or the charges against her.
Soheila Motaei was detained by security forces on Monday, March 10, 2025, after participating in an event commemorating International Women’s Day in Sanandaj. She was taken to an undisclosed location.
Previously, on January 23, 2025, she had also been arrested by security forces in Dehgolan for participating in a general strike in Kurdish cities protesting an execution sentence.
Soheila Motaei, one of those arrested during the nationwide protests, was previously sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in prison by the Criminal Court of Dehgolan. If this verdict is upheld in the appeals stage, the harshest sentence, meaning 18 months in prison, will be enforced under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code.
According to the ruling issued by Branch 2 of the Dehgolan Criminal Court, she was sentenced as follows:
18 months for “disrupting public order”, 13 months for “spreading false information to disturb public opinion”, 5 months for “resisting law enforcement”, 9 months for “propaganda in favor of anti-government groups and organizations”
If the appeals court upholds the ruling, only the longest sentence (18 months) will be enforced under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code.
Soheila Motaei had previously been arrested on October 1, 2022, during the nationwide protests in Dehgolan. She was released temporarily on October 17, 2022, after posting bail of 400 million tomans.
