Bokan: Release of Susan Hassanzadeh on Bail

Susan Hassanzadeh, a civil activist and Kurdish language instructor from Bokan, has been temporarily released from prison on bail.

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Susan Hassanzadeh, a civil activist and Kurdish language instructor from Bokan, was temporarily released from Urmia Central Prison on a bail of one billion tomans until the completion of her legal proceedings. 

Ms. Hassanzadeh was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, May 15, 2024, when agents from the Bokan Intelligence Department violently raided her home. During her arrest, she was denied access to a lawyer. 

As of the time of this report, the reasons for her arrest and the charges against her remain unknown. Ms. Hassanzadeh has previously faced legal persecution due to her activities.
