A Baloch Sukhtbar lost his life following a collision between two vehicles and a subsequent fire on the Kerman-Bam road.
According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, a collision between a Peugeot 405 Sukhtbar and a trailer on the Kerman-Bam road resulted in the Sukhtbari vehicle catching fire.
The Baloch Sukhtbar, identified as 35-year-old Farouq Narouei, married with four children, and a resident of Esmailabad in Khash County, lost his life due to the severe injuries sustained.
Local sources reported that on Tuesday afternoon, a trailer collided with the Sukhtbari vehicle from behind, causing it to overturn and catch fire. The driver was severely injured and was rescued by bystanders before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Due to a significant delay in the arrival of emergency services, he was being transported to Fahraj Hospital in a passing car, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during the transfer.
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face.
According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
