Urmia: Civil Activist Sentenced to Three Months in Prison

Hamid Chapati, a civil activist from Urmia, has been sentenced to three months of imprisonment by the Islamic Revolutionary Court.

According to Kolbarnews, Hamid Chapati was convicted on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and sentenced to three months of discretionary imprisonment.
His trial was held on February 15, 2025, at the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Urmia, and the verdict was officially communicated to him on February 19, 2025.

On October 16, 2024, Chapati was summoned to the Security Police in connection with his alleged dissemination of critical content on social media. He was arrested but later released on the same day after being formally charged at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Urmia, pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
