Tehran: Labor Activist Maziar Seyednejad Released from Evin Prison

Maziar Seyednejad, labor activist and political prisoner, has been released from Evin Prison after completing his sentence.

According to Kolbarnews, on Monday, May 12, 2025, Maziar Seyednejad was released from Evin Prison following the end of his prison term.
On December 20, 2024, the Khuzestan Court of Appeals Branch 16 accepted his request for sentence consolidation, reducing his total sentence to three years, three months, and two days. Previously, he had been sentenced to a total of six years in two separate cases by Revolutionary Courts in Ahvaz and Tehran.

Seyednejad had been sent to Evin Prison on May 21, 2023, to begin serving his sentence. He had earlier been released on bail of 600 million tomans on August 16, 2021, after being arrested by security forces at his home in Tehran on June 7, 2021.

Maziar Seyednejad has a history of previous arrests and convictions due to his labor activism.
