Tehran: Former political prisoner Hamid Farhadi re-arrested by security forces

Hamid Farhadi, a Kurdish citizen from Kermanshah and a former political prisoner, was re-arrested in Tehran by security forces three months after his release from Evin Prison.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Sunday, November 9, 2025, agents of the Intelligence Department raided Farhadi’s home in Tehran, arrested him, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

Reports indicate that the security agents did not present a judicial warrant, searched his home, and confiscated several personal belongings during the raid.

Farhadi had been released from Evin Prison on August 21, 2025, after serving his sentence. He was previously sentenced to 14 months in prison and a 30-million-toman fine on charges of “propaganda against the state.” Despite the suspension of his prison term, he was forced to serve four months in jail due to his inability to pay the fine.

The Kurdish activist was also previously arrested on July 8, 2024, and temporarily released on bail after several days of interrogation.

As of the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for his re-arrest, his charges, or his current whereabouts.
