Safa Aeili, uncle of Jina Amini, was arrested by security forces in Saqqez and transferred to the city’s central prison to begin serving his prison sentence.
According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Friday, April 11, 2025, 31-year-old Safa Aaeli was arrested by agents from the Saqqez Intelligence Office.
The report states that security forces, without presenting a judicial warrant, stopped Aaili while he was with his wife and arrested him.
A few hours after his arrest, he informed his family via phone that he had been transferred to the central prison of Saqqez.
Aeili had previously been arrested on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, and was temporarily released on October 17 of the same year on bail of 1.2 billion tomans, pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
In February 2024, Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Saqqez, presided over by Judge Javad Mostafaei, sentenced Safa Aeili to a total of 5 years, 4 months, and 17 days in prison:
3 years, 6 months, and 1 day for “participation in gathering and collusion against internal security”, 7 months and 16 days for “propaganda against the regime”, 15 months and 1 day for “insulting Khamenei”
