Sousan Razani, a civil and women’s rights activist from Sanandaj, has been summoned by the Revolutionary Court of the city.

According to Kolbarews, Sousan Razani, a veteran activist of the women’s movement in Sanandaj, received a summons from the city’s Revolutionary Court to appear on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The notice did not mention any reason for the summons or specify any charges.
Previously, on January 6, 2025, Razani, along with six other labor and environmental activists, appeared before Branch 2 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Sanandaj for an interrogation session. She defended herself against charges of “propaganda against the regime and disturbing public opinion” and was released on bail after being formally charged.
Earlier, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, Razani a well-known figure in the women’s movement and a member of the Chel-Chemah Mountaineering Group in Sanandaj was summoned by the police intelligence unit and released after several hours of interrogation and threats.
On Saturday, October 29, 2022, during a wave of mass arrests by security forces in Sanandaj, she was detained and taken to an undisclosed location. She was eventually released on November 13, 2022, after 16 days in custody and posting bail, pending judicial proceedings.
Sousan Razani has a long history of activism. On May 1, 2008, she was arrested during a Labor Day ceremony by security forces and later sentenced by Branch 101 of Sanandaj’s Criminal Court to nine months of suspended imprisonment for three years and 70 lashes. The sentence was eventually carried out on February 19, 2009.
On April 13, 2014, Razani and a number of labor activists and committee members were summoned by Sanandaj’s intelligence office and were explicitly threatened during interrogation.
