Labor and civil activists Jalil Mohammadi and Kamal Akhereti have been temporarily released from Sanandaj Central Prison after posting bail.

According to Kolbarnews, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, Jalil Mohammadi, a well-known labor activist, and Kamal Akhereti, a civil activist from Sanandaj, were released on 500 million tomans bail each. Their release is temporary until the judicial process is completed.
On Thursday, January 25, 2025, security forces in Sanandaj arrested Jalil Mohammadi, a prominent labor activist and member of the Coordination Committee for Assisting in the Establishment of Labor Organizations, without a judicial warrant. His arrest took place one day after a strike by shopkeepers and merchants across Kurdistan, which was a protest against death penalty sentences. He was transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center. Mohammadi has previously been arrested and sentenced for his labor and civil activities.
On the same day, Kamal Akhereti, a resident of Sanandaj, was also arrested by security forces under similar circumstances. He was taken to an undisclosed location.
The strike on Wednesday, January 24, 2025, saw shopkeepers and merchants in multiple Kurdish cities, including Sanandaj, Saqqez, Kamiyaran, Divandarreh, and Marivan, shut down their businesses in protest against death sentences.
