Sanandaj: Environmental Activist Sentenced to Suspended Imprisonment and Fine

Zhiyan Miri, an environmental activist from Sanandaj, has been sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 50 million tomans.

According to Kolbarnews, Zhiyan (Mokrat) Miri, an environmental activist from the village of Tangeser in Sanandaj County, was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj to one year of suspended prison time and a monetary fine of 50 million tomans.

According to the report, the court convicted Zhiyan Miri on the charge of “collaborating with one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Islamic Republic.”

This environmental activist was previously arrested on January 12, 2025, and after several days of interrogation, was released from Sanandaj Prison on January 17, 2025, upon posting a bail of 500 million tomans.
