Rask: Shooting and Violent Arrest of Two Baloch Sukhtbars

Security forces in Rask opened fire on a Sukhtbari vehicle, violently arresting its two occupants.

According to Kolbarnews, in the early hours of Monday, March 11, 2025, plainclothes security forces, without prior warning, fired at a Toyota pickup truck at the Parood junction in Rask County. After stopping the vehicle, they violently beat and arrested its two occupants, transferring them to an unknown location.

Local sources have identified the two Baloch Sukhtbars as Imran Aghal, 21 years old, son of Rahim Bakhsh, and Baqer Aghal, 25 years old, son of Abdul Majid, both residents of Kofiza village.

Reports also indicate that security forces confiscated their vehicles. As of this report, there is no information about their whereabouts.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
