Four Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives following a collision between two vehicles and a subsequent fire in Rasak County.
According to Kolbarnews, on the morning of Tuesday, August 13, 2024, a collision between a Saipa Sukhtbari vehicle and a Peugeot 405 occurred near the village of Dargas in Rasak County. The impact led to a fire that consumed both vehicles, resulting in the deaths of four Baloch Sukhtbars who were trapped in the flames.
Two of the victims have been identified as Matin Damanpareh, 19 years old and a resident of the village of Firoozabad in Rasak County, and Hasel Jedgal, 22 years old, resident of Rasak. The identities of the other two victims, who were in the Saipa pickup truck and were reportedly from the village of Batak in Sarbaz County, remain unknown at the time of this report.
The report states that due to the severity of the collision and the subsequent fire, all four occupants of the vehicles were unable to escape and tragically perished in the flames.
Sukhtbari is considered an unconventional and hazardous job that many Baluch people in Baluchistan are forced into due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle rollovers, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that Sukhtbars face.
According to reports from Baluch activists, in the first six months of 2024, at least 133 Baluch Sukhtbars have died from shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, with another 80 injured in these incidents, including nine children.
