Oshnavieh: Political Prisoner Mohammad Rasoulpour Sentenced to One More Year in Prison

Mohammad Rasoulpour, a 53-year-old political prisoner from Oshnavieh, has been handed an additional one-year prison sentence while already serving a previous term in the central prison of Oshnavieh.

According to Kolbarnews, the latest verdict was issued by Branch 101 of the Second Criminal Court of Oshnavieh, presided over by Judge Ali Ansari. Rasoulpour was sentenced to 4 months for “propaganda against the regime” and 8 months for “collaboration with one of the Kurdish opposition parties.”
The trial took place via video conference on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Additionally, he has been denied furlough rights for six months.

Rasoulpour was previously arrested on November 17, 2024, to serve a 2-year sentence issued by the Revolutionary Court of Oshnavieh on similar charges. That sentence was later reduced to 18 months.

He was initially detained on July 4, 2024, during a violent raid by intelligence forces on his home in the village of Kohneh Qaleh, near Oshnavieh. He was arrested without a warrant, interrogated at a security detention center in Urmia, and eventually transferred to Oshnavieh Prison. On July 14, he was temporarily released on 600 million toman bail pending trial.

Mohammad Rasoulpour is 53 years old and the father of three children.
