Saman Koushesh, an activist in the teachers’ union in Marivan, has been dismissed from his position by the Kurdistan Province Department of Education.
According to Kolbarnews, citing the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, the dismissal order for Saman Koushesh was issued on March 16, 2024, by the Primary Board for Administrative Violations in the Kurdistan Province Education Department.
This decision was made based on Article 8, Clause 29, following directives from the security apparatus.
The Coordinating Council also mentioned that after Saman Koushesh was stripped of his rank due to his union activities and his calls for participation in protests and strikes during the Jina uprising, he faced increased pressure from the security apparatus and the department’s security office. This pressure eventually forced him to take unpaid leave. However, the Department of Education, citing his union activities, unusually denied his request for unpaid leave and initiated disciplinary action without any prior warning, ultimately referring his case to the Primary Board.
The report further states that on March 16 and 17, the Primary Board for Administrative Violations in the Kurdistan Province Department of Education issued dismissal orders for three individuals and a one-year temporary suspension for another teachers’ union activist in Marivan.
