Omid Mazloum, a resident of Mahabad, a member of a family seeking justice, and the brother of executed political prisoner Mohsen Mazloum, has been re-arrested by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to Kulbarnews, on Sunday, November 17, 2024, Omid Mazloum, a 40-year-old resident of the village of “Atmish,” near the city of Mahabad, was arrested for the second time by the city’s security forces and taken to an unknown location. The report indicates that the security forces carried out the arrest without presenting a judicial warrant.
Omid Mazloum was previously arrested on July 25, 2023, by security forces in Mahabad and subsequently transferred to Mahabad prison. During his arrest, the officers searched his home and confiscated his mobile phone. On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, Mazloum was temporarily released from the city’s prison on bail of 1.1 billion pending the completion of legal proceedings.
Omid Mazloum is the brother of Mohsen Mazloum, an executed political prisoner from Mahabad. Mohsen Mazloum, along with three others—Pezhman Fatehi, Vafa Azarbar, and Hajir Faramarzi—was arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Organization (FRAJA, Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran) on July 23, 2022, in the Somay Baradust area of Urmia County. After 18 months of enforced disappearance, these four Kurdish political prisoners were executed on January 29, 2024, in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
Since their execution, the families’ efforts to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones have been unsuccessful. Security forces have refused to provide any information about the burial locations of these four political prisoners, leaving their families in anguish.
