Mahabad: Mohammadreza Gheytarani Transferred to Prison for Sentence Execution

Mohammadreza Gheytarani, a 22-year-old resident of Mahabad, was detained and transferred to Mahabad Central Prison to serve a six-month prison sentence after responding to a summons from the city’s Enforcement Office.

According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Gheytarani reported to the Enforcement Office in Mahabad, where he was detained and sent to prison. His sentence had been previously issued by Branch One of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Doosti, on September 24, 2024. He was sentenced to six months in prison for alleged “collaboration with an opposition group,” with time previously served included in the sentence.

Gheytarani was initially detained by security forces in Mahabad on July 11, 2024, and was released on bail on August 5, 2024.

A native of Mahabad, Gheytarani is the son of Jalal and had previously been detained during the nationwide protests in 2022.
