Kurdistan: Death sentence and heavy prison terms issued for seven citizens

Seven citizens in Kurdistan, including have been sentenced to execution and long prison terms on security-related charges verdicts that, according to informed sources, were issued following arrests accompanied by torture.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the preliminary prison verdicts for six citizens from Mahabad were issued.

Based on the report, Yousef Mam-Qaderi, Hemin Mam-Qaderi, Salar Bayzidiazar, Mansour Karbalaei, Hassan Mamilazar, and Salar Seyed-Rahimi were each sentenced to 10 years and one day in prison by Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Ahad Siyami.

These verdicts were issued on charges including “acting against national security” and “membership in one of the opposition parties to the Iranian government.”

It is noteworthy that in the same case, a death sentence in absentia was issued for Kavis Abdollahzadeh Aghdam, who was charged with “baghi” (armed rebellion against the state). He reportedly left Iran after being temporarily released, and no further details about his judicial proceedings are available.

Yousef Mam-Qaderi and Hemin Mam-Qaderi, both residents of Bukan, Salar Bayzidiazar of Mahabad, and Mansour Karbalaei, Hassan Mamilazar, and Salar Seyed-Rahimi, all residents of Miandoab, were arrested by security forces between June 25 and June 30, 2022.

After their arrest, they were taken to the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center for interrogation and later transferred to Bukan Prison. They were released on bail after the interrogation process concluded.
