A petrochemical worker in Khuzestan passed away due to severe heatstroke, following a seizure triggered by extreme heat.
According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, a young worker succumbed to heatstroke after experiencing a severe seizure before he could reach the clinic.
The identity of the worker has been confirmed as Alireza Abdollahzadeh, employed at a petrochemical plant located in the Special Economic Zone.
The intense heat and humidity exceeding 90% in the region have made working conditions extremely difficult and life-threatening for the workers.
It’s worth noting that in 2023, a total of 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in work-related accidents in Iran, representing an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year, which saw 1,900 fatalities.
Iran ranks 102nd globally in terms of workplace safety, a notably low position.
