Kerman: Death of Two Baloch Sukhtbars in a Car Accident

Two Baloch Sukhtbars, lost their lives in a car crash involving two vehicles 15 kilometers from the Rayen Waterfall in Kerman.

According to Kolbarnews, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 13, 2025, a collision between two vehicles 15 kilometers from the Rayen Waterfall in Kerman resulted in the death of at least three individuals, including two Baloch Sukhtbars, in a fiery blaze.

The identities of the two deceased Sukhtbars have been confirmed as Amirhossein Zardkouhi, son of Abdi, and Farhad Zardkouhi, son of Mohammad Noor, both from the village of Soorap in Iranshahr County. The identity of the third victim is not yet known.

According to the report, the two vehicles collided head-on, which caused them to catch fire. All three occupants of the vehicles died in the flames.

Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the year 2024, at least 375 Baloch Sukhtbars have been injured or lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires. Of this number, 240 Sukhtbars were killed and 135 were injured, representing a 55% increase in the number of killed and injured Sukhtbars compared to the year 2023.
