Kerman: A Baloch Sukhtbar Killed Following Mersad Forces’ Gunfire

A Baloch Sukhtbar was killed after Mersad forces opened fire on his vehicle near Rayen, Kerman.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Sunday, May 11, 2025, a Baloch Sukhtbar lost his life about 10 kilometers from Rayen, a district of Kerman, after being shot by Mersad forces.

According to informed sources, Yousef Kabedani, 30 years old and a resident of Iranshahr, was passing through the area when several Mersad force vehicles began to pursue him. Gunfire was directed at his car, striking Yousef. His vehicle then overturned and caught fire. Yousef died as a result of gunshot wounds and injuries sustained in the crash and subsequent blaze.

The incident occurred around 8 PM on Saturday evening.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
