Karaj; Mashallah Karami Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

Mashallah Karami, the father of executed protester Mohammad Mehdi Karami, has been sentenced to six years in prison by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj.

According to Kolbarnews, based on a ruling delivered to Mashallah Karami, father of executed protester Mohammad Mehdi Karami, on Monday, May 20, 2024, in prison, he has been sentenced by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj to five years in prison for “assembly and collusion with the intent to commit a crime against national security” and one year in prison for “propaganda against the regime.” 

The court session to address Mr. Karami’s charges was held on April 23, 2024, in the same branch.

In late March 2024, Mr. Karami’s indictment was issued by Branch 11 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Karaj with charges including “membership in groups and associations with the intent to act against national security, propaganda against the regime, insulting sacred values, forming a group with the intent to disrupt national security, and insulting the leadership”.
