Kamiyaran: At Least ten  Environmental Activists Arrested

Following the funeral of the deceased environmental activist Esmail Karimi, at least five environmental activists were arrested by security forces in Kamiyaran.

According to Kolbarnews, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, regime security forces in Kamiyaran arrested at least five environmental activists after the funeral of Esmail Karimi, who had passed away due to severe injuries. 

The identities of four of the detainees have been confirmed by Kolbarnews as Farideh Veisi, Hamid Sabzeh, Hesam Mahdi, Amir Nadimi, Amanj Ghorbani, and Farzin Moafaqhi. KolbarNews.

In the early hours of Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Esmail Karimi, an environmental activist and member of the Kamyaran Natural Resources Department, succumbed to severe injuries. On Monday, July 22, 2024, Karimi had gone to the “Kanishi” forested area near Kamyaran with other environmental activists to combat a wildfire when he suffered severe burns (80% of his body). Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted by emergency helicopter to Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Esmail Karimi’s body was buried in Najafabad village, Kamyaran, amidst a large gathering of people from Kamyaran and Kurdistan.
