Jakigour: Two Baloch Sukhtbars Killed After Vehicle Overturns and Catches Fire

Two Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives after their vehicle overturned and caught fire near the Jakigour highway police checkpoint.

According to Kolbarnews, on the evening of Sunday, May 11, 2025, a Sukhtbari vehicle overturned and caught fire near the Jakigour road checkpoint, resulting in the deaths of two Baloch Sukhtbars.

In the incident, Sarfraz Parki-Zehi, approximately 20 years old, son of Isa and a resident of Meydanjah village, died instantly inside the vehicle due to severe burns.
Jalal Notak-Zehi-Rad, the driver, around 21 years old, son of Kamal and from Kambik Dep village, suffered extensive burns and passed away around 11 AM today after being transferred to a hospital.

According to informed sources, the accident occurred around 10:30 PM. Both victims were residents of the Kishkur district in Sarbaz County.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
