Iranshahr: Death and Injury of Two Workers Due to Gas Poisoning

Two Baloch workers in Iranshahr suffered an accident caused by carbon monoxide leakage, resulting in the death of one and severe injury to the other.

According to Kolbarnews, the incident occurred on Friday, December 13, 2024, at a construction site. Reports indicate that a gas leak from the building’s piping system led to the spread of toxic carbon monoxide gas in the security post where the two workers were stationed, causing severe poisoning.

One victim, identified as Abdolhaq Dehghani, 48, a resident of Kohmitag village in Sarbaz County and living in Iranshahr, died on the spot due to excessive inhalation of carbon monoxide. He was a father to one child. The identity of the injured worker has not yet been confirmed, and he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

It is noteworthy that in 2023, 2,115 workers (2,094 men and 21 women) lost their lives in work-related incidents in Iran, marking an 11.3% increase compared to the previous year, which recorded 1,900 fatalities.

Iran ranks 102nd globally in occupational safety standards, reflecting a very poor standing.
