A coalition of Iranian child rights activists has issued a statement demanding the immediate and unconditional cancellation of the death sentence against Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor and women’s rights defender.

The signatories stressed that working for justice, human rights, and the protection of children “is not a crime and must not be met with fear and violence.” They described the ruling as “baseless,” emphasizing Mohammadi’s long dedication to supporting vulnerable children.
The statement reads: “We child rights activists demand a humane life free from discrimination for all. In a society marked by poverty, inequality, and hardship, it is natural for conscious voices like Sharifeh Mohammadi’s to work for the well-being of workers and children. Her execution sentence must be revoked immediately.”
The activists also denounced the death penalty itself as “an inhumane punishment” that threatens society and civil activists, even if not carried out. They urged an end to all forms of violence, imprisonment, and intimidation against civil society.
The statement was signed by several organizations, including the Association for the Protection of Children’s Rights, Supporters of Working Children Rang-e Khoda, Pooya Institute for Supporting Working Children, Mehr o Mah Empowerment Institute, and the Society for the Protection of Street and Working Children, among others.
