Farhad Sheikhi, a labor activist from Saqqez and a resident of Hashtgerd, Karaj, has been summoned to Branch 1 of the Criminal Enforcement Court at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Hashtgerd to serve his eight-month prison sentence.
According to Kolbarnews, Farhad Sheikhi was recently notified to appear at the aforementioned court in the coming days to begin serving his prison sentence. On September 8, 2024, the Alborz Provincial Court of Appeals sentenced him to eight months in prison, two years of exile in Divandarreh, a two-year travel ban from Iran, and a two-year ban on residing in Alborz and Tehran provinces.
Farhad Sheikhi was initially arrested by security forces at his home in Hashtgerd on June 28, 2023, and later transferred to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj. He was eventually released on June 13, 2023, on a bail of 100 million tomans after being formally charged at the Hashtgerd Prosecutor’s Office.
In July 2024, the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Karaj, presided over by Judge Seyed Mousa Asaf al-Hosseini, sentenced Sheikhi to one year in prison, two years of exile to Divandarreh, a two-year travel ban, and a two-year residency ban in Alborz and Tehran provinces after completing his exile. His initial court session was held on June 19, 2024.
Farhad Sheikhi has a prior history of arrests and convictions due to his activism. He was previously released from prison on February 7, 2023, following a general amnesty order.
