Dehgolan: Civil Activist Sina Mohammadi Sentenced to Prison and Additional Punishment

Sina Mohammadi, a civil activist and member of the “Jiyar” cultural-social association in Dehgolan, has been sentenced to one month of imprisonment and additional punishment, including 240 hours of unpaid community service at the Road Maintenance and Transportation Department.

According to Kolbarnews, the 27-year-old Sina Mohammadi, a sociology student at Kurdistan University and a resident of Dehgolan, was sentenced by Branch 102 of the Dehgolan Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Rostami. His charges include participating in recent protests by residents of Bolbolanabad against the poor road conditions and destruction of local routes by mining machinery.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, security forces raided Sina Mohammadi’s family home in the Bolbolanabad area of Dehgolan, arresting him.

Sina Mohammadi has a history of prior arrests. On Thursday, December 8, 2022, during the “Jina Uprising,” he was detained but was later released on bail.

This recent sentence highlights the ongoing suppression of civil activists involved in advocating for community rights and protesting local grievances.
