Gwatar maritime border forces, by direct shooting in the Kalani River in Dashtyari, killed a Baloch Sukhtbar.

According to Kolbarnews, on the morning of Tuesday, October 21, 2025, security forces from the Gwatar maritime border post in Dashtyari County opened fire on a Sukhtbari vehicle in the Kalani River area, resulting in the death of the driver.
The identity of this Baloch Sukhtbar has been announced as “Hamid Rand,” son of Hossein, a resident of Banoo village, part of the Pirsohrab district of Chabahar County.
According to local reports, the shooting occurred when the Sukhtbar’s vehicle stopped after colliding with a maritime forces’ vehicle on the road leading to the shrimp farms. Witnesses say the officers, after the vehicle stopped, shot directly and at close range toward the driver. The bullet struck his heart, causing his immediate death.
Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have been forced to turn to due to the lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct gunfire from military and security forces are among the dangers that threaten the lives of these Sukhtbars. According to reports from Baloch activists, in the year 2024, at least 375 Baloch Sukhtbars have been injured or lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires. Of this number, 240 Sukhtbars were killed and 135 were injured, representing a 55% increase in the number of killed and injured Sukhtbars compared to the year 2023.
