Imran Shahbakhsh, a Sukhtbar from Zahedan who suffered severe injuries after his vehicle overturned due to military gunfire, remains in critical condition at the hospital.

According to Kolbarnews, Imran Shahbakhsh, a 23-year-old Sukhtbar from Zahedan, is in critical condition at Khomeini Hospital in Jiroft after his vehicle overturned and caught fire following military gunfire on the Jiroft-Delfard route.

The report states that on Monday, February 3, 2025, military forces pursued and fired at Imran’s vehicle, causing it to overturn and catch fire. During the incident, he was thrown from the vehicle, suffering severe fractures and injuries.

Local sources claim that not only did the military forces refuse to assist the injured Sukhtbar, but they also prevented citizens from helping him.

Sukhtbari considered one of the unconventional and dangerous occupations that many Baloch people in Balochistan are forced to engage in due to the lack of suitable and stable employment opportunities. Accidents, vehicle overturns, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars. According to reports by Baloch activists, in 2024, at least 240 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, while 135 others were injured in these incidents, 19 of whom were children.
