Bushehr; Court Date Set for Teacher Union Activist Mohsen Omrani

The court date for Mohsen Omrani, a member of the Bushehr Teachers’ Union, has been set.

According to Kolbarnews, citing the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, the court session to address the charges against Mohsen Omrani, a member of the Bushehr Teachers’ Union, will be held on July 4, 2024.

In November of last year, Mr. Omrani was sentenced by Branch 4 of the Criminal Court of Bushehr Province to a fine of 12 million tomans for “disrupting public order” due to his participation in teachers’ union protests. However, on February 18, 2024, he was acquitted of the charges by Branch 3 of the Appeals Court of the same province.

This union activist was previously arrested by security forces in Bushehr in May 2022 and was released on bail later that month.

It is worth noting that Mr. Omrani has a history of arrests and imprisonment due to his union activities.
