Semko Maroufi, a former political prisoner from Bukan, was arrested by agents of the Intelligence Office and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to Kolbarnews, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Semko Maroufi, an environmental activist and former political prisoner from Bukan, was arrested by forces of the Islamic Republic’s Intelligence Office and transferred to an unknown location.
Based on this report, security forces surrounded Mr. Maroufi’s residence in one of Bukan’s neighborhoods with multiple vehicles and carried out his arrest. So far, no specific information has been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest, his place of detention, or the charges against him.
Semko Maroufi has previously been arrested and prosecuted multiple times for his civil and environmental activities. In 2019, 2020, and 2021, he was sentenced to several years in prison on charges such as “disturbing public order” and “propaganda against the regime,” and he spent time in prison.
