Bukan: Hetaw Akrami Sentenced to Eight Months in Prison

Hetaw Akrami, a member of a family seeking justice, has been sentenced to eight months of imprisonment by the judiciary in Bukan.

According to Kolbarnews, Hetaw Akrami, a 42-year-old resident of Bukan and a member of a family seeking justice, was recently sentenced to eight months of imprisonment by the Criminal Court Branch 101 in Bukan on charges of “collaboration with an opposition party.” However, this sentence has been converted into a fine. Despite this, the Bukan Intelligence Office opposed the ruling and referred the case for review to the Revolutionary Court in Urmia.

On Friday, June 1, 2024, Hetaw Akrami, who had returned to Iran from abroad to attend a relative’s wedding, was arrested by security forces at her family home in Bukan. The agents searched the house and confiscated several personal and electronic items belonging to her.

Her Instagram account was also deactivated due to the posting of critical content on social media. After enduring 25 days in detention, she was released on July 3, 2024, on a six-billion-toman bail pending the completion of her legal proceedings.

Hetaw Akrami is the cousin of Mehran Akrami, one of the victims of the Zhina Revolutionary Movement.
