Saman Karimi, a former political prisoner from the city of Baneh, was released from Baneh Central Prison on heavy bail of five billion tomans after 76 days in detention, temporarily and until the completion of judicial proceedings.

According to Kolbarnews, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, Saman Karimi, a former political prisoner and resident of Baneh, was freed on temporary bail of five billion tomans after 76 days in detention, pending the conclusion of court proceedings.
On Sunday, May 26, 2025, Saman Karimi and his wife, Farzaneh Rashidi, were arrested by security forces in Baneh and transferred to an undisclosed location. Security forces first detained Saman Karimi on one of Baneh’s streets and then raided the family home, arresting his wife, Farzaneh Rashidi.
On Sunday, July 27, 2025, Farzaneh Rashidi, a 26-year-old student at Payam Noor University in Baneh, was released from Saqqez Central Prison on temporary bail of one billion and five hundred million tomans after two months in detention, pending the completion of her trial. Earlier in July of this year, she had been transferred from one of Baneh’s security detention centers to Saqqez Central Prison, while her husband, Saman Karimi, had been transferred to Baneh Central Prison.
During their detention, the two were denied access to legal representation and family visits.
At the time of this report, the reasons for their arrest and the charges against them remain unknown.
