At least one Baloch Sukhtbar lost his life following a collision and subsequent fire involving two vehicles in Bandar Abbas.
According to Kolbarnews, early on Saturday, May 18, 2024, a severe collision between two cars, including one Sukhtbar, occurred in Bandar Abbas, resulting in the death of at least one Baloch Sukhtbar.
The identity of the deceased Sukhtbar has been confirmed as Sadiq Alizei, approximately 55 years old, a resident of Zahedan.
Local sources reported: “Early Saturday morning near the city of Bandar Abbas, two cars collided, and the driver of the Sukhtbar died in the flames.
There are no information available about the passengers of the other car.”
Sukhtbari is considered one of the unconventional and dangerous jobs that many Baloch people in Balochistan have resorted to out of lack of suitable and stable employment. Accidents, vehicle overturning, and direct shootings by military and security forces are some of the dangers that threaten the lives of Sukhtbars in this profession. According to reports from Baloch activists in 2023, at least 172 Baloch Sukhtbars lost their lives due to shootings by military forces, traffic accidents, and vehicle fires, and 42 others were injured in these incidents, including 11 children
